The 7th grade Girls Soccer team delivered an unforgettable performance during the semifinals and championship matches, showcasing their determination and skill to claim the Conference Championship title.
In the semifinal game against Gus Garcia, the Eagles dominated much of the match. Despite several shots on goal, the score remained 0-0 for most of the game. The intensity ramped up in the second half when a well-placed pass from Elizabeth Lace found Emerson David, who fired the ball into the net, securing a 1-0 victory. The midfielders and forwards continued to press offensively while the defensive line held strong, keeping the ball away from their goalie.
Less than 10 minutes later, the Eagles were back on the field for the Championship match against Harlandale, an opponent they had faced earlier in the season. Determined to win, the Eagles struck first with Emerson David dribbling past a defender and scoring the opening goal. The excitement was short-lived, as Harlandale managed a breakaway goal with 12 minutes remaining, tying the score 1-1.
The Eagles, unwilling to let the game go to a shootout, pushed through their exhaustion and continued to fight. With less than five minutes on the clock, the defensive line cleared the ball to Raegen Read, who passed to Emerson David. Emerson skillfully maneuvered past defenders and, when the goalie charged, passed to Addison Kindla, who scored the game-winning goal. The Eagles held off Harlandale’s advances in the final moments, securing a 2-1 victory and the Conference Championship.
Key saves throughout the tournament were made by goalies Emily Allen and Kaylee Navarro, while defensive standouts included Gabby Rendon, Brooklyn Read, Rockilyn Flores, Juliet Mejia, Joelene Arguijo, and Alynna Sorola. These players worked tirelessly to protect their end of the field. Offensive standouts—Addison Kindla, Emerson David, Raegen Read, Elizabeth Lace, Mikaylah Quintana, Tessa Broom, Alayna Coronado, and Maliyah Molina—contributed to the team’s success with their relentless pressure and scoring efforts.
Coach Smith praised the team, saying, “I am so proud of these young ladies. They gave all they had throughout the entire tournament.”
