  • Eagles, do you need a quick brain break from studying for your semester exams? Head on over to your school blog, the Quill. Our final issue #70 is posted and features sentimental farewell to our seniors, staff spotlights, and more. The Journalism staff wish the class of 2026 a wonderful commencement ceremony, and a huge CONGRATULATIONS! Please let your counselors know if you would like to join journalism for the 26-27 school year.

  • On Thursday, May 14th, Layla Rodriguez was the last athlete competing for Pleasanton High School. She had the weight of the city on her back in Austin, Texas. It was the final event of her magnificent high school career. She was competing against the best pole vaulters in the state of Texas.

Layla finished the day with a jump of 11’6”, making her the 7th-best pole vaulter in 4A. She will go down as the best female pole vaulter in the history of Pleasanton High School. She is a state qualifier, 4x regional qualifier, 4x area qualifier, a district champion, and the school record holder in the pole vault with a jump of 11’9”. She will go down in history as one of Pleasanton’s most decorated female athletes and a role model for future athletes to strive for. She will be an athlete that coaches will talk about for years to come.

She is the GOAT of girls pole vault, and you can’t help but cry “GOAT tears” knowing that this is her last year. Congratulations on a beautiful high school career, Layla. Coach Guajardo refers to her as “the girl of the hour, too sweet to be sour, the reflection of perfection, the girl who got the vaulter’s attention, the one with the greatest arms, the best charms, and the one who’s going to do a lot of harm in college. This girl eats T-bone steaks, she lifts barbell plates, and she is sweeter than a German chocolate cake. And all I’ve gotta say is, when you’re the greatest vaulter in the world, they’ve got a name for you. They call you Layla!”

  • On Friday, May 15, JROTC hosted our Annual Award Ceremony at the PAC, we want to Congratulate the following Cadet; Payton Pawkett for getting promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and being the 2026-2027 Battalion Commander and Mercedes Cabrera on becoming the Battalion Sergeant Major for the 2026-2027 school year.
