Pleasanton ISD offers Speech Therapy services to eligible students aged 3-21. We assess, diagnose, and provide treatment to students in the following qualifying categories:
Articulation: We evaluate sound production and patterns of development.
Language: We determine a student’s abilities to understand spoken language (listening comprehension) as well as his abilities to use spoken language to indicate his wants and needs (oral expression).
Fluency: We determine if a student is having difficulty with stuttering in conversational speech.
Voice: We determine, with a Doctor’s referral, if a student is exhibiting vocal characteristics that are indicative of vocal nodules, vocal paralysis, or nasality associated with cleft palate surgeries.
Pragmatics: We determine if a student is exhibiting difficulties with social language or higher order communication skills. This would include maintaining eye contact, topic maintenance, or reciprocal communication often associated with autism.
Our services are provided in numerous settings including pull-out, in class (inclusion), and teacher collaborations depending on the student’s individual needs. Our goal is to provide the student with the communication skills to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
